Responses to the Comments on my Bishop Barron Video | Celibacy was a mistake
The beginner seeks better answers, the master - better questions
Hey Kids,
This is an old post draft from maybe 2021? that I never posted. It was a discussion on celibacy and the Pros / Cons. This guy Steve Skojec ran a Catholic Apologist website called 1st Peter 5 (he doesn’t anymore) and was slaying a sacred cow…This tweet was deleted soon after.

This dovetails with my last post about Bishop Barron responding to me calling him a D.I.N.K. I got some interesting comments in response; most of them are superficial or cliche. It’s so tiresome to hear people repeat bromides without putting any thought into them. I wanted to explore some of these a little deeper and discuss the stage two discussions resulting from better questions in place of the platitudes. Here is the response video:
Here are a few follow up questions that I address in my response:
Can one person hypothetically refuse to marry and have kids because they hate God/civilization while another person refuses to marry and have kids in service of God/civilization?
Will they get an altogether different result?
When did the patriarchy (physical and spiritual Fatherhood combined /empowered with the Priesthood of God) stop working and is the new recipe getting better results?
Would you rather be raised by a physical father with the Priesthood or God or without?
Which would God utilize if he wanted to get the best results?
Would you rather have a priesthood adviser who has a happy marriage & successful children or neither?
Which would be able to offer wisdom guided by experience in this arena?
How many experts have no personal experience in their field?
The Priesthood + Fatherhood has historically been God's preferred method to sanctify his Sons. Does celibacy have a superior track record of generating righteous, holy, sanctified men than the old recipe?
If not, then why not?
In what context is calling someone an Eunuch...not a pejorative term?
If the 6:1 ratio (people leaving vs people joining) is correct…how many years before the demographics will essentially collapse?
Who benefits the most from making righteous men choose between raising a family and becoming a celibate priest?
What similarities are there between Saul’s quasi-obedience and the way that leaders attempt to rationalize their unholy or unscriptural behavior today?
I didn’t get into the misapplication of 2nd Corinthians 7. I’ll have to do it another time.
Love you kids
